You might think it’s a bit early for any holiday-related news, but this is New York and everything always moves at maximum speed! The 32nd annual Holiday Train Show will make its return at the New York Botanical Garden on November 16, 2023.
Watch model trains travel through 200 New York landmark replicas—like the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, and others—as adorable miniatures made out of natural materials like leaves, seeds, twigs, bark, acorns, and cinnamon sticks.
The train show is expected to be bigger than ever before with more trains and an outdoor train display to go along with the indoor show at the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory.
With the all new indoor and outdoor experience, the 2023 Holiday Train Show will pay homage to its “outdoor roots” when the show first began in 1992.
The set showcases expansive tracks for G-scale model trains and trolleys traveling around the mini-city, passing iconic building replicas like the Statue of Liberty, Grand Central Terminal, Rockefeller Center, and Radio City Musical Hall.
Interpretive signage will return, focusing on certain plants used in the Holiday Train Show’s replicas.
In efforts to “draw a connection between the botanical roots of The New York Botanical Garden’s cherished annual exhibition and its Plant Research and Conservation program,” the signage will link to these plant stories through the Bloomberg Connects app.
Visitors can additionally explore NYBG GLOW in its fourth edition on select evenings starting Friday, November 17th through Saturday, January 13th.
Tickets are $5 and must be reserved in advance, and visitors should purchase tickets as soon as possible because they do sell out! Learn more here.
