La Barca Cantina offers Mexican fare and delicious cocktails afloat! Hop onboard the three-story boat at Pier 81 on the Hudson River and sail around the city for incredible skyline and sunset views with New York Cruise Lines. And it officially set sail on May 4th!
The boat offers custom artwork by Tlisza Jaurique, the first Mexican-American woman to exhibit at the Met, an incredible top deck for guests to take in the scenery, and most notably, an expansive agave-based spirits menu.
Craig Kanarick, Chief Executive Officer of New York Cruise Lines, was inspired by his travels to Mexico to create this perfect summer destination. “Having spent the [years] learning everything I possibly can about agave-based spirits, including mezcal and tequila, it’s a thrill to cast a spotlight on a beverage category that is just as diverse and terroir-driven, yet not as well-known, as wine.” said Kanarick.
For cocktails, make sure to try their Bucket List Golden Margarita made with Rey Sol Extra Añejo, Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto, Damiana, Yuzu and gold leaf. Or sip on a more traditional tequila drink called a “Tequila Bandera” (bandera meaning flag in Spanish) that is served in three-parts: one shot of tequila, one shot of lime juice, and one shot of sangrita (spicy tomato juice).
Their food menu includes new tacos like Chile Relleno, Pork Cochinita Pibil, Lamb Barbacoa, Chicharrón en Salsa and a returning favorite: Tony’s Campechano tacos made with beef, pork, and roasted scallions that pays tribute to Tacos Tony, a popular taco destination in Mexico City.
Or if you’re really hungry, order one of their party platters like the Tower of Tacos Fiesta, complete with three of each taco on the menu, or the Pollo Barca Fiesta with Mexican-spiced fried whole chicken, chorizo empanadas, chips, yuca fries, jalapenos, onion rings, and salsas!
The unique experience is the perfect way to enjoy the warmer weather headed to NYC. You can make your group reservations now on their website here.
