And though you might soon be stressing about what costume to wear this year, you won’t have to worry about where to find the most perfect pumpkins near you. From New Jersey favorites, to some within the five boroughs, here are the best places to go pumpkin picking near NYC this fall.
1. Greg’s Pumpkin Patch, Brooklyn (15 minutes away)
Greg’s Pumpkin Pitch in Williamsburg will be here all October, offering a huge selection of pumpkins leading up to Halloween night! The 24 hour patch is your best shot in the city of grabbing lovely gourds, and makes for a great fall activity! 2. Happy Day Farm, Manalapan (1 hour and 30 minutes away)
Through October 29, you can pick pumpkins to your heart’s desire at this 130 acre farm in New Jersey. Happy Day Farm allows guests to “pay for what they pick” so you can get what you wish! The annual Pumpkin Point extravaganza in Nolan Park is returning this Halloween season to Governors Island! Take the ferry across and you’ll be greeted to the free pumpยญkin patch and fall fesยญtiยญval, featuring FREE pumpkins as well as Halloween and autumn-inspired arts and crafts activities, magic shows, story-telling, puppet shows, and more! 4. Demarest Farms, NJ (45 minutes away)
Search for your perfect pumpkin beginning Saturday, September 23rd at this expansive farm founded in 1886! For $8 your general admission ticket will include free parking, entrance to the pumpkin patch, petting zoo, playground, and hayrides. Once you enter the patch, you’ll pay a flat rate of $12 for any pumpkin that you please, no matter the size!

5. Wilkens Fruit & Fir Farm, Yorktown Heights (1 hour away)
This year marks the 107th year of harvest for Wilkens Fruit & Fir Farm. Their pumpkin patch isanticipated to open for picking on Saturday, September 30th. Until then, guests can still pick-their-own apples, peaches, and nectarines and weave their way through the corn maze.

Queens County Farm will open up their pumpkin patch to the public on Sunday, October 1st. There, visitors can enjoy the crisp fall air as they wander through the patch to scoop up the perfect pumpkin. Pumpkins are priced by size and no reservation is required.

8. Dykeman Farm, Pawling (1 hour and 40 mins away)
Pumpkin picking will be available at Dykeman Farm starting Saturday, September 23rd and through every weekend in October. Visitors can expect a large selection with over 70 different varieties offered at the farm! Plus they also offer all visitors free hayrides.

9. Fishkill Farms, Hopewell Junction (1 hour and 20 mins away)
A beloved spot for apple picking, Fishkill Farms also offers pumpkin picking starting Saturday, September 23rd. If you already have an apple picking reservation you can add pumpkin picking on at the farm, otherwise you must make a pumpkin picking reservation which can be done on their website.

The pumpkin patch will open on Saturday, September 30th and will operate every Saturday and Sunday through the month. Offering an extensive list of pick-your-own produce from strawberries, peas, apples, peppers, and of course pumpkins, you can expect a wide range of colorful choices in addition to seasonal gourds and squash. Along with your PYO entry ticket, you’ll get to experience a scenic hay wagon ride through the farm and get access to the evergreen maze and hay pyramid. From hay rides to a corn maze, Outhouse Orchards offers all the fall activities you could have hoped for! Scour through their large selection of pumpkins (all vine free) and grab whichever takes your liking! Once you find the one, you’ll simply bring it over to the staff tent to get weighed for payment and you’ll be off. But make sure to stop at The Barn before you head out to pick up all sorts of fall goodies like apple cider doughnuts, local honey, and seasonal produce. They’re not yet open, but you can keep up with an opening date on their website.

13. F&W Schmitt’s Family Farm, Melville (1 hour away)
For decades, this Long Island farm has been celebrating autumnal traditions perfect for the whole family. From mini golf, hayrides, petting zoo, sunflower picking, a haunted house, and pumpkin picking, you’re sure to be feeling the seasonal spirit! The farm will reopen for the season on Saturday, September 23rd.
